Just a little update

Sorry I missed you guys last week! Last week was a crazy week, so I’m sure you’ll understand. The Red Jam Slam was on Friday and was a huge success. We spent all week prepping for the event, putting up posters, and getting the word out there. There were a ton of people who showed up and everything went so well. It was an informative day for sure. It dealt with the legacies of residential schools through arts and music. It was dope.

At the event we had some awesome performers, some of which I’d really like to get on the archive. This was one thing that I was on the lookout for at the event. There was this rap group there called Un1ty. His beats and mash-up of traditional singing was awesome. I really dug it. Hopefully I can get him on here for your ears.  There was also a jazz singer there named Gerri Trimble. She has that smokey, but lovely jazz voice that just commands your attention.

In unrelated news, I have an audition for a play this coming weekend. It’s only my second one since being back in Ottawa, so wish me luck!

So for now I’m going to look for more artists. We got a CD in the other day that I’m going to be putting up later today, so stay tuned. Hopefully I’ll have more to tell you guys next week.

 Until next time!
