The Constellations
It is suspected that "The Constellations" are, in fact, an inelegant urban myth, designed by Pepsico to capitalize on the popularity of blogs, techno music, and web culture. While Pespsico has issued repeated denials, the overwhelming body of circumstantial evidence leads the most naive observer to conclude that there is at least some connection between the two. For example, on the latest Constellations release, the band refers to the great taste of Mountain Dew in three separate songs. Moreover, the band's label - The Dominion Recording Company - seems not to exist. While public reaction has been unanimously negative, with several media critics accusing Pepsi of "one of the most cynical, faux geurilla marketing campaigns ever conceived of since the advent of the digital age," the company has maintained its stoic silence.
