Brandon Solomon/Direction Four
Direction Four is from Kettle & and Stoney Point First Nation. We have been performing in and around the area since September 2010. We have 4 recordings aired on various Native radio stations in Ontario and across Canada including two of our singles on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown.
Describing Direction Four’s sound and genre has been one the most difficult things I’ve had to do so far. I finally settled on the genre of folk rock because of acoustic guitars, boy/girl singing and harmonica, in most of our songs, along with bass and drums. As for describing the sound, I would say we have a classic rock feel, as my major influences would appropriate. Some say they have found themselves singing or humming the tune soon after hearing it, thinking “I like that”.
The band is extracurricular for us but creating music is definitely a passion for each member of Direction Four. We are unsigned, independent and casually taking steps to our first full length CD as well as “getting out there”, whatever that means.
