The Pine Family Singers
Album tracks
"The hymns you will be hearing are sung in the Ojibwe language and dialect common to the Ojibwe people of the Garden River First Nation and surrounding area. These ageless songs of praise and thanksgiving are present at all the important times in the life of the community and its members, and have been sung and passed from generation to generation for over a hundred years. This recording is an effort to retain these sacred songs and preserve the Ojibwe language for future generations. Whatever your mother tongue, the beautiful melodies and heartfelt singing cross all language barriers and transport the listener to a sacred place.
The Pine Family Singers are descendants of Shingwaukonce (Little Pine). Music, and especially these hymns have always played an important part in their ministry and outreach work to native people and the wider community.
We would like to thank Thew New Engaland Company for their generous grant and the Anglican Church for their support and encouragement."
