Ran Samanala

This album, released in Canada in 1998, consists of songs composed by Deepa as far back as 1975. The album is diverse and fuses folk, reggae, kaffrinha, pop, and semi-classical Sinhalese and world styles, while the songs speak of love, life, heartbreak, the civil war, motherhood and childhood. Many of her songs are allegorical, teasing out the social realities and issues behind conventional topics and images.
