External vs. Internal

Hello OIMA! Did you guys miss me?

So, what have I been up to? Well, I uploaded two new artists to the archive; Peter Sackaney, and Jack Pyl. Peter is an aboriginal folk artist from Thunder Bay, Jack makes this really interesting experimental rock music, and he's from Ottawa. I'm also starting my outreach planning for Resonating Reconciliation, and threw together my first PSA. Yay!

All this crappy weather has me in a slow, acoustic music mood. I've been listening to instrumental and indie folk a lot these days. Explosions In The Sky are awesome. Great mood music and borderline inspirational.

This got me thinking; why do we listen to the music we listen to? It all came down to two factors for me; The External, and The Internal.

Now this is pretty self explainatory, but the External is the things outside of us that affect us. You know, like the weather, and the city we're in, or the city we're not in. All that stuff. You'll feel different depending on whats happening around you. That pretty basic human nature, but I feel like it still needs to be said.

It's all about how people let it effect them that's key. Some people listen to music that fits their environment or speak to how they're feeling, or they just compain about it... ugh...

Again, this is pretty self explainatory, but the Internal are the things that are inside of us that are affecting us. Your inner feelings, conflicts, and stresses. Now this is just a teensy bit more complicated, as you can imagine. Different people, react to different things, in different ways. That's the beauty of the human condition.

For me at least, I know that I use music when I'm feeling down. The choice you make is in what kind of music you listen to and how you respond to it when your feeling down. You can listen to really depressing music about break ups and loss of love and all that... great stuff. Or, you can listen to happy up beat music to help raise your spirits.

Like I said, Different people react to different things in different ways. So do what makes YOU feel better.  Or don't. I'm not your mother so, do what you want.

Anyway I'm out of here! Till next time!
