Malaika
Malaika is a four-woman, Ottawa-based, multicultural vocal group featuring sisters Neema Mugala and Stella Haybukhai orignally from Tanzania, along with singer-songwriters Beth Ferguson and Lee Hayes. The group toured and recorded from 1994 to 2003. Christine Graves replaced Beth Ferguson in 2000.

Malaika means "angel" in Swahili and is the name of East Africa's most popular love song. Malaika, the group, performs music from around the world in many different languages and styles. Malaika's eclectic repertoire includes songs of social struggle, African music, traditional folk songs, and gospel tunes. As well, the group has written many original songs. Much of the material is in English, but the group sings in many other languages, including Spanish, French, Swahili, Xhosa, Portuguese, Gaelic, Swedish and Japanese.
