Gary Pig Gold

The Artist (zine-maker/songwriter/record producer/film-maker/author and/or musician) known as Pig had his sonic awakening long, long ago inside his Aunt Jenny's cottage near Belleville, thanks to the discovery of an unguarded console radio tuned to mighty CHUM 1050 Toronto. Immediately upon discovering those Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show shortly afterwards, Gary grabbed one of his dad's old tennis racquets and has been pretending to play rock 'n' roll guitar ever since.
Along the way he started The Pig Paper, Canada's first-ever self-published music (fan)zine, which begat Pig Records (who released the very first Simply Saucer vinyl) and then the Pigshit column/now blog, which has been appearing regularly somewhere in the world for the past thirty-some-odd-years and counting.
That all lead to a move to Southern California, where Gary lead his very own Loved Ones combo as well as promoting concerts for others, a return to O Canada where he formed, brought to New York City, then historically signed to Melodiya Records back in the USSR the quite legendary Dave Rave Conspiracy, and a quarter century of additional music making, breaking, and relating of all sorts over the quarter century ever since.
