Dwell
Andrew Noakes is a trombonist, composer, arranger, educator, radio host, vinyl enthusiast and avid bicyclist. He holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Music degree from Humber College. Recently relocated to Toronto from Calgary, he is a very active member in the Canadian music scene. Having performed, most notably, with Broken Social Scene, The Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble, The Prime Time Big Band, and his own project: Dwell, Andrew is seen as a unique voice on the trombone. He is a versatile and enthusiastic performer, who has been a driving source behind the success of many projects.
As composer and arranger, Andrew has released Dwell an EP of original material performed by a group of likeminded individuals: Felicity Williams on vocals, Tom Upjohn on trumpet, Riley Keller on alto saxophone, Benaias Lemma on guitar, Chris Bruder on piano, Ethan Tilbury on upright bass and Alfie Vienneau on drums. These songs feature music and words that draw on the experiences he has seen over the years, focusing on the emotions tied with moving to a new city and the ideas of finding a home within ones self.
