Keeper of Stories
Album tracks
"Storytelling is common to all peoples, informing us of our heritage and providing a context for our personal stories. The title song, Keeper of Stories, is dedicated to Emily General, who was an elder on the Six Nations Reserve, near Brandtford Ontario. Her wisdom engendered, in me, an appreciatio and respect for the power of story; the need to allow room for Spirit to speak. Most of the songs are reflective of this storytelling tradition.
The song, Gather the Children, depicts a beautiful village practice, in the Republic of Congo, where stories were passed on to the children, by women around the cooking fires at dawn.
As a Metis, I look to my Native, French, and English roots, attempting to speak from a unique vantage point, at the juncture of the three founding Canadian cultures. It is my hope that the expression of the three founding Canadian cultures. It is my hope that the expression of cultural diversity, through music, will serve to promote the understanding that 'the earth is one country and mankind its citizens' ".
